Pistachios are a very caloric food. They are a good source of vegetable protein, lipids and carbohydrates.

These nuts also have a high content of unsaturated fats, particularly monounsaturated; oleic acid is predominant, helping to reduce the total colesterol level, LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides, and blood pressure. It contains no cholesterol and has saturated fat low levels. These properties help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease along with its contents in vitamins E, folic acid and phytosterols. 

Regarding minerals, they have considerable amounts of phosphorus and potassium, so they are recommended to improve mental health and enhance intellectual abilities. Phosphorus also helps strengthen bones, and potassium improves the muscles performance, preventing cramps and pulls during the sporting activity. Other important minerals are magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc. 

Like most nuts, pistachios have effect on the reproductive system health thanks to their content of zinc and vitamin E. Moreover, it’s an ideal food for skin beauty because, along with this vitamin, provides generous amounts of vitamin A. Both vitamins prevent aging and strengthen epidermis cells with the help of their lipids.
