The fig is the fruit of the fig tree. This tree does not require special care and tolerates high and low temperatures, as well as drought, quite well. However, excessive water and / or excessive humidity harm it. Given these peculiar climatic conditions, Turkey is one of the largest producers of this fruit, followed by the United States, Spain, Greece, Afghanistan and Italy.
Dried figs are made from fully ripe figs that are dried on the tree using the sun. Once they fall from the tree, they are collected for subsequent washing and processing processes to remove foreign matter or other defects.
Figs are a good source of calcium. In fact, they are one of the dried fruits that provide more calcium, thereby helping to prevent osteoporosis and have a protective effect against colon cancer. They also provide a lot of fiber and energy; and magnesium; strengthening the growth and structuring of bones.
