About us

Since 2005

Present in the nuts market since 2005 under the name Calconut, our origins go back decades thanks to family roots.

Importers and exporters of nuts, dehydrated and dried fruits, seeds, legumes, spices and superfoods, we are currently one of the leading companies in the sector. Over the years we have been climbing positions to be within the TOP 10, compared to the almond importing countries worldwide (comparison based on the monthly reports of the Almond Board of California )

This upward line has been witnessed by the Financial Times newspaper, which has included Calconut for three consecutive years (2016-2018) in the ranking of the 1000 fastest growing companies in Europe according to the "London Stock Exchange Group".

Competitive advantages

Our long history in the nuts sector and the large volume of goods that we handle, allows us to contact suppliers in different origins all over the world and, this in turn, gives us access to a wide variety of quality products at highly competitive prices.

In our commitment to continuous improvement, with the recognized BRC and IFS Food certifications in food safety, we guarantee that the import and export of our products is carried out in accordance with the highest quality standards throughout the entire chain of supply.

Technological innovation is part of Calconut's DNA. We work to optimize each process, and we have opted for the implementation of Blockchain technology, a system that guarantees the immutability of the traceability data of the raw material, from the origin until it leaves our facilities.

Circular economy

From Calconut we are committed to the circular economy and environmental care, trying not only to optimize processes, but also to make them more sustainable. We have installed more than 1,200 photovoltaic panels with which we supply ourselves with part of the necessary energy both in the factory and in offices, we reuse the almond shells as a biodegradable element in our gardens and the excess water from the industrial processes for the irrigation of the vegetation of our facilities. Our goal is to achieve zero waste by using the almond shell to produce biomass and thus offset our carbon footprint on the planet.

Circular Economy

One of our greatest commitments to society is the preservation and care of the environment. As a company, we try to minimize the volume of waste we generate through our production model based on the circular economy. In addition to reducing waste and reusing some resources, we have a protocol in place to ensure that a correct separation of waste is carried out when recycling.

One of our biggest bets in innovation is the effective implementation of Blockchain technology, being pioneers in the sector. This technology allows the customer access to all the information of the product, from its obtaining until it leaves our facilities, through the processing, packaging, storage and logistics of the raw material, simply by scanning a QR on the container.

In addition, we have carried out a factory virtualization project. So that any visitor that we receive at our headquarters, without having to access the factory, can take a virtual tour of the warehouses and thus know in detail and first-hand all the machinery that makes up our production line through the virtual reality technology.
